Electoral Roll

Every 6 years, by law the church electoral roll is scrapped, and a new one is complied. This is due to happen this year. All people who wish to have their names entered on the new Roll, whether their names are entered on the current roll or not, are requested to apply for enrolment no later than
8th March 2019

The Electoral Roll is the basic list in every parish of all those entitled to vote on elections within the Church of England and it’s really important and valuable to us to have all those who consider themselves part of our church to sign up. So please if you are able, do sign up, it doesn’t cost anything – to you or us – and will add a really important element of understanding of our parish life.

Who can be on the electoral roll?

To be on the electoral roll a person needs to have been baptised, be at least 16 years old and either:

• Living in the parish and a member of the Church of England or a Church in communion with the Church of England.

• Not resident in the parish but is a member of the Church of England (or a Church with which the Church of England is in communion) and has regularly attended worship in the parish during the six months prior to enrolment.

• A member in good standing of a Church which subscribes to the doctrine of the Holy Trinity and they are prepared to declare themselves a member of the Church of England, having regularly attended worship during the six months prior to enrolment.

Green blank forms are available at the back of church and the parish office
for anyone who would like to be included on the Electoral Roll. These can be returned to the parish office, to the Church Wardens or directly to Jill Beech.

Forms must be returned by 8th March 2019 to be included in the new Roll.
